Enhancements Summary
More Complete Billing & Invoicing Workflows: Expanded invoice review, editing, allocation, and delivery capabilities with PDF support, multi-recipient sending, billing status tracking, and stronger cost management controls.
Smarter Cost & Rate Management: Improved contract rate matching, demurrage calculations, fuel billing methods, tax and fee handling, and charge validation to increase billing accuracy and reduce manual corrections.
Enhanced Voyage Planning & Recommendations: Added more flexible planning controls, improved ETA accuracy, expanded recommendation logic, richer voyage context, and better visibility into trip opportunities and routing decisions.
Stronger Operational Logging & Tracking: Expanded deck log capabilities, event management controls, fuel tracking accuracy, offline reliability, GPS asset tracking, and vessel activity visibility for both office and field teams.
Improved Email & Document Workflows: Introduced a centralized inbound email review experience, expanded attachment handling, improved document processing, and streamlined operational communications.
Invoice workflows received some of the largest enhancements this cycle. Teams can now send invoices directly from BargeOS with PDF attachments, send multiple invoices within a single email, route invoices to multiple billing contacts, use BCC recipients, preserve finalized PDFs, and review invoices using expanded status workflows. Invoice editing capabilities were also expanded to support quantity changes, unit price updates, service dates, line-item descriptions, merged-cost management, and manual cost editing.
Asset tracking capabilities expanded through improved GPS integrations, easier device-to-asset management, improved map plotting, and new telematics integrations that support live vessel position updates. Additional protections help prevent tracking from unintentionally restarting after voyage completion.
Voyage planning workflows became more flexible with expanded broker handling, hire-port controls, asset quantity controls, multi-stop planning alternatives, customizable filters, and improved voyage matching capabilities.
Recommendation logic was also enhanced to incorporate fresher demand signals, ETA and port timing, line-haul idle time, voyage costs, and trip status information. Operators can now better evaluate and prioritize opportunities before taking action.
Arrival forecasting received several upgrades during this release cycle. Scheduled ETA calculations now better reflect actual route geography, route changes update speed and fuel calculations more consistently, and ETA explainability improvements provide greater visibility into how arrival estimates are determined.
Fuel Management & Cost Tracking
Fuel-related workflows saw substantial enhancements. The platform now supports configurable fuel billing methods, improved asset-level fuel allocations, fuel tax reporting improvements, voyage-level fuel burn breakdowns, and stronger handling of fuel inventory calculations.
Additional improvements address out-of-order fuel purchases and readings, duplicate fuel records, downstream recalculations, and invoice matching to improve overall cost accuracy.
Deck log workflows were expanded with better offline support, stronger validation, richer event details, improved event attribution, office-side event editing, clearer status indicators, and support for valid same-time events.
Operational logging workflows also preserve historical boat-order selections and provide more reliable handling of required event notes and fuel readings captured during voyage operations.
More Accurate Billing & Contract Logic
Several improvements were made to the underlying billing engine, including:
Effective-date aware rate matching
Expanded demurrage calculation options
Support for additional fee and deduction types
Prevention of duplicate billing for included services
Preservation of edited charges during recalculations
Asset-level handling of tax-style costs
These enhancements improve billing accuracy and reduce manual review effort.
Planning, Routing & Mapping Improvements
Several fixes improved day-to-day voyage operations, including route correction logic, map reliability improvements, itinerary pin displays, mile marker consistency, and fixes for route-editing scenarios that previously affected voyage calculations.
Platform Stability & Performance
Significant work was completed to improve system performance and resilience, including:
Background processing optimizations
Queue deduplication improvements
Memory and startup performance enhancements
Database scaling improvements
Enhanced observability and monitoring
Dependency and security updates
These changes help support continued platform growth while maintaining reliability under increasing operational workloads.
Data Processing & Workflow Reliability
Additional reliability improvements included support for emailed Word document processing, improved email ingestion workflows, duplicate event prevention, stronger save-timeout handling, and safeguards designed to protect trusted vessel tracking data during inbound processing.
